Horta Foods, Inc. is a full-service food service management corporation that is owned and operated by the Medeiros family. Since 1993, the Medeiros family has delighted in helping to feed other families and in sharing our passion for good food and great service.

In addition to providing the highest quality cafeteria, vending and catering services, Horta works collaboratively with our clients to help you maximize efficiencies in cost and service. We re-designed the cafeteria services at Cuesta College, San Luis Obispo, CA, to attract a broader section of the campus community and make it a more relevant and profitable operation for the school. In managing the food services operations for the National Guard’s Project ChalleNGe’s Grizzly Youth Academy, also in San Luis Obispo, we have been successful in reducing the program’s food costs by 30% while improving the quality, taste and portion size of the food served.

Horta has recently opened the Piazza Bistro on Las Tablas Road in Templeton, where it serves staff and visitors to the Twin Cities Community Hospital and surrounding businesses.

Horta is a sister company of Acores Foods, Inc., which the Medeiros family owns and operates in Templeton. Acores has grown in 13 years to become a preferred provider of cafeteria, catering and contract food services to schools, youth programs and Government entities from California to Missouri. A $4 million operation with more than 80 employees, Acores now operates 10 food service facilities that serve more than 800,000 guests a day.

Horta’s relationship with Acores provides us with access to additional financial and personnel resources and enables us to achieve economies of scale that ensure that we receive fresh deliveries of quality food at reasonable prices.
